Pulmonology refers to diseases of the respiratory tract. As pulmonologists, we diagnose and treat various respiratory ailments including shortness of breath, chronic cough, asthma, emphysema, chronic bronchitis, bronchiectasis and pulmonary fibrosis. Additionally, we care for patients with pulmonary nodules or masses, lung cancer, chronic lung infections, pleural diseases and pulmonary hypertension.
At Carroll Pulmonary and Sleep Associates, we perform in house Pulmonary function tests (PFTs). PFTs are noninvasive tests that show how well the lungs are working. The tests measure lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, and gas exchange. This information can help us diagnose and decide the treatment of certain lung disorders.

At Carroll Pulmonary and Sleep Associates, we provide sleep studies, consultative services to arrange evaluations, and offer post-study review sessions with patients. We can treat Sleep Apnea, Snorning, Restless Leg Syndrome, Insomnia, Narcolepsy, and other Sleep Disorders.
Clinical research is an important part of the process by which a medication becomes approved by the FDA for a particular disease or condition. It also allows the manufacturer to compare the benefits of a medication already FDA-approved to other similar medications on the market. The safety of these medications has already been established. The type of clinical trials we do at Carroll Pulmonary and Sleep Associates test the medication for effectiveness.
When you participate in a clinical research trial, you may be helping a medication get FDA approval. You may also be able to get access to a treatment when perhaps no other treatment is available. Study medication and study-related medical care are generally provided free of charge.
We may have research studies for the following conditions at any time:
